Overwatch 2’s Pink Mercy skin isn’t back, but charity events are back

Collecting Overwatch 2 skins is a big part of the draw for many players, but one of the most popular skins has eluded some for years. The Pink Mercy skin for Overwatch 2 was released as part of a charity event, but hasn’t been available in multiplayer since. His recent appearance in an Amazon Prime Gaming ad raised questions, but the game’s executive producer says it was a mistake, though he notes that more Overwatch 2 charity events are planned in the future.

The Pink Mercy mask was sold in May 2018 to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It’s never been available since, but it’s still one of the Swiss quack’s most coveted looks. Some players have even gone as far as asking to buy Battlenet accounts to get their hands on them (which is against Blizzard’s terms of service, so don’t try to do it yourself).

The recent reappearance of the skin in a Prime Gaming ad showcasing upcoming free Overwatch skins for subscribers has many gamers wondering if the skin is finally coming back. Unfortunately, it is not the case; The ad was removed, and Overwatch 2 director Jared Noyce said (via patrol cavalry), “Pink Mercy was unintentional, sorry. We didn’t create this particular snippet and made sure to fix the bug after viewing it.”

Referring to a Twitter account called “Bring Back the Pink Mercy 2023” (in case you have any doubts about the suitability of leather), Noyce continues: “We definitely want to do more charity events and have discussed options. As soon as possible! as we fix something, we will definitely announce it!”

Of course, there’s no guarantee Pink Mercy will return to such events, but Noyce himself says he’d be delighted at such a prospect. “I missed it the first time,” he said. explain, “so I selfishly want another chance to support a great cause.” The last word on the skin, however, came from community manager Andy Belford, who said in March 2022, “We have no plans to bring back the Pink Mercy skin or badges.”

With its distinctive visuals and audio cues, Pink Mercy is arguably as close to the mythical aspects of Overwatch 2 as the original game, so if it were to return, it would definitely be a welcome sight.
