There is another fix for The Last of Us, and the latest update points to a crash fix for Nvidia RTX 3000 graphics cards. Along with a bunch of other fixes, Naughty Dog also says it will work to get rid of possibly unsupported Steam. Deck icon, added by Valve to the game overview page.
The Last of Us certainly got off to a rocky start on PC, but Naughty Dog continues to release post-launch patches. Although there are many issues that need to be addressed, the first specific failure is related to the memory requirements of the video card. The second patch takes those early efforts even further, outlining how to fix issues with cards like the Nvidia RTX 3060, which happens to be the most popular new GPU on Steam.
According to The Last of Us Part I v1.0.1.7 patch notes, players using an Nvidia RTX 30-series GPU should update to Hotfix driver version 531.58. Fortunately, Naughty Dog has a direct download link so you don’t have to search for it yourself. Nvidia’s patch should help fix The Last of Us crashing issues, but it also fixes the Resident Evil 4 Remake FXAA issue and Assassin’s Creed Origins instability.
Technically, you should thank (or perhaps blame) Nvidia for the first resolution on Naughty Dog’s fix list. However, the developer has also made progress in fixing a number of annoying issues with the PC port.
These are the fixes included in The Last of Us v1.0.1.7 patch.:
- Fixed an issue that caused Xbox controller input to be erroneously read as zeros for short periods of time.
- Fixed an issue where the “Restore Defaults” feature in the “Graphics” menu in Settings could make an incorrect selection.
- Fixed an issue where HUD performance monitors could affect performance when enabled.
- Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when using [ALT+ENTER] to switch between full screen and windowed modes.
- Fixed a bug that could cause a memory crash when switching from the endgame to the credits sequence.
- Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when launching the game.
- Added additional crash report logs to provide more information to developers.
- Added a new feature where users will be prompted to enable advanced GPU diagnostics after a GPU related crash (optional and only available for the current game session).
the present day naughty dog revealed “Another update is coming out this Friday and it could help improve the gaming experience even further. In terms of compatibility with the Last of Us Steam Deck, while the studio is obviously prioritizing fixes right now, it says they will work towards Verified status in Of course, you don’t need permission from Valve to play a PlayStation game on Valve’s portable PC, as Verification is designed to be a useful one-on-one portable game.
Even if Naughty Dog magically manages to fully repair the game by Friday, we highly recommend checking out The Last of Us system requirements. This ensures that your platform is capable of executing some demanding doomsday drama, because the minimum bar is not that low. Unfortunately, even with the best settings, you’ll still have trouble creating The Last of Us shaders, so keep that in mind when starting a new game.
While you’re at it, take a look at our best list of Last of Us customizations. We’ve tested different ways to strike a balance between frame rate and fidelity, and you can boost your frame rate even further with a small tweak in the options menu. .
