With The Last of Us PC release date finally here, Naughty Dog’s Steam survival game is apparently struggling with a “mostly negative” overall user rating less than 24 hours after launch. While The Last of Us players are reporting various technical issues, including an issue that prevents the game from loading even on PCs that meet the minimum requirements, Naughty Dog is releasing an official statement along with a help page to report technical issues.
There have been 5,740 user reviews so far, and Steam’s reaction to The Last of Us is officially “mostly negative” at this point. Players of TLOU ported to PC by Iron Galaxy, who have also worked with Steam versions of Batman Arkham Knight and Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, are reporting slow loading, crashes, and issues with the game’s rendering shaders.
In response, Naughty Dog issued an official statement, explaining that they had “listened” to players’ concerns. “The Last of Us Part I PC Players: We have heard your concerns and our team is actively investigating the many issues you have reported.” – Developer talk. “We will continue to update it, but our team is prioritizing updates and will fix the issues in future patches.”
Naughty Dog has also launched a support page where The Last of Us players can report issues. Currently, the developer lists five main issues that it is focusing on.
“We are currently investigating the following issues,” says Naughty Dog. “Loading shaders is taking longer than expected. Performance and stability are degraded when shaders are loaded in the background. Old graphics drivers cause instability and/or graphics issues. The game may not load despite the minimum system requirements. Possible memory loss.
The Uncharted Legacy of Thieves collection also suffered from technical issues at launch, though these were resolved with a series of patches, and the game now has a “mostly positive” Steam user rating based on 7,128 reviews.
