Always watch your card
It can be hard to keep track of every little collectible in every room, but Resident Evil 4 Remake makes it easy for you by constantly updating the map whenever you notice something. This includes ammo, blue medallions, health items – if Leon or Ashley saw this, the item should appear on your map when you check it out. All you have to do is enter the room and items will start appearing on your map. It is important to note that this does not include special items like Mechanical Castellans or weapons that can be concealed.
Flashbang Grenades can instantly kill special enemies.
The infected villagers in Resident Evil 4 Remake are more resilient than the zombies in Raccoon City, as they can regenerate after death. These enemies grow tentacles that replace the owner’s head; not only does their attack range increase, but they also deal more damage. Fortunately, flashbang grenades can be used to instantly stop these enemies where they are, killing them in the blink of an eye.
The merchant sells a flashbang recipe for only 6000 pesetas, make sure you buy it right away as these enemies start spawning frequently after Chapter 2. Flashbang grenades also temporarily stun normal enemies, allowing you to melee attack body to anyone within the blast radius.
Keep an eye on the ground for traps
If you thought fighting the villagers was hard enough, you also have to watch out for the many traps scattered on the ground. From bear traps to laser mines, these enemies will do anything to stop Leon. Run your knife into nearby bear traps to close them, or you can spend ammo to activate them, although we don’t recommend doing this if he’s trying to conserve resources. As for the Tripwire mines, you can go there to disarm them, saving valuable bullets and possibly some of your health.
Upgrading your weapons makes shooting easier
While upgrading your weapons has the obvious benefit of being extremely useful in battle, you may not be aware that upgrading affects ranged weapons as well. There’s a reason you can suddenly hit more targets in earlier shooting range missions when you’ve reached the end game because your weapons have been upgraded.
As your weapon’s rate of fire and ammo capacity increase, ranged tasks become much easier as you can hit more targets without having to reload. Don’t worry about reaching the higher levels of the level at the beginning of the game, return to the merchant in a later game to show him how good your aim is.
Seek hand-to-hand combat opportunities whenever possible
The key to conserving ammo in Resident Evil 4 Remake is using Leon’s ferocious melee attacks to kick, grapple, and hook your way through hordes of enemies. Use these melee openings to your advantage, taking on multiple enemies at once to hurt everyone around you.
You can shoot at the legs of enemies to stun them, resulting in a hook attack. Similarly, shooting enemies in the head will put them in the same state, giving you a chance to take them down. If an enemy runs at you, aim for their legs to knock them down and immediately stab them with the combat knife for an instant kill.
The combat knife is your most powerful weapon.
You should always upgrade and repair your knife as often as possible, as it is the most reliable weapon you have access to. Your combat knife is essential as a defensive tool, as it can parry powerful enemy attacks like a chainsaw or throwing axes from pesky villagers. It is also just as powerful when used as an offensive tool, preventing enemies from transforming into its Plague A form while you hit them mid-transformation. If you want to get all the achievements in Resident Evil 4 Remake, you need to become a blade expert.
You can trust the Rocket Launcher for tough bosses
Some players like to pick up and upgrade powerful weapons like a rifle or magnum for boss emergencies in Resident Evil 4 Remake, but did you know that the rocket launcher is just as good? In fact, if you look at it economically, the flare gun will set you back 80,000 pesetas, but that’s significantly less than a full upgrade of any weapon in the game.
Whenever you get to a particularly difficult boss, just buy a rocket launcher and shoot him in the face. In most cases, the boss should die without much of a fight. There are a few exceptions to this, but for the most part, most bosses and enemies can be taken down with a single explosion.
