Players say Destiny 2’s lavish rewards can add punch to the game’s lackluster FPS system. Bungie introduced its commendation system with the release of Lightfall and Destiny 2 Season 20, but some players complain that Destiny 2’s commendation, while well-intentioned, is not a particularly worthwhile addition to Destiny 2.
In-game fashion has long been important to many Destiny 2 players. However, due to the nature of the game, this doesn’t always allow Guardians to bring their characters’ personal styles to the forefront of the game environment. The prize for the best outfit at the end of each match would be great!” by Redditor Fireheart318s_Reddit points out that some players even call the game “Dressiny” and suggests saying thank you would be a great way to top up other people’s drops.
There is currently no other way to do this in-game other than by expressing your approval in voice or text chat. Appreciation of player appearance can be a badge of honor for more modern Guardians, as many players enjoy creating builds based on certain themes, colors, and other trendy elements.
Several of the players who responded in the thread agreed with this, with many speculating that they usually award kudos based on how their teammates look anyway.
Bungie introduced Lightfall Commendations to celebrate and recognize other players’ contributions to team activities, allowing Guardians to reward themselves for good play, good communication, or knowledge of the game. However, it seems that many players don’t take them seriously and don’t use them. for the intended purpose. One of the main issues with Commendations is that players felt they didn’t have enough time to properly reward Commendations after certain actions. However, Bungie took some steps to fix this issue in a recent patch.
One of the challenges in implementing the recommendations may be the delay in the release of the Research Group (LFG) features. Combined with the capabilities of the LFG, Commendations would allow players to use in-game social tools to develop teams with specific objectives and then more actively reward themselves with Commendations based on those objectives in a lightweight environment. Instead, players using referrals will generally have to send them to random players they find during matchmaking activities, as even activities like raids have referral caps. Content creators have even gone as far as making videos on how to farm on Thanksgiving as it is tied to Destiny 2 Guardian ranks and players need a certain number to level up.
Still, thanks seem to be better for relatively quick judgments in activities like PvP, where players may not even know which of their teammates is performing better until they see the end of action screen. However, most players are quick to judge something as visual as Guardian’s clothing, allowing them to compliment players based on how they choose to decorate their characters.
Player requests for deluxe multiplayer rewards have also moved from Reddit to Twitter, so hopefully Bungie will watch and take notice.
