According to Arkane, Redfall is an “unlucky loser” for Starfield.

Redfall’s idyllic setting and vampire enemies huddled in the woods of a once-sleepy island village are a far cry from the vast expanse of Starfield’s astral setting. Since Arkane’s vampire game predates Bethesda’s space epic, I asked Arkane Austin studio head Harvey Smith if he was concerned about Starfield consuming Redfall like the undead.

With a wry smile, Smith says, “I Love [the Starfield] the team and their size and they made some of the most successful games in the world but I already work for Arkane Fifteen years.

” Crossing All In This Project: Global Pandemic, Massive Social Upheaval, Damn Trump, Uprising, Multiple Ice Storms Shutting Down City Infrastructure, Murder Hornets, Death Of Our Beloved President And Founder Ron Altman, Microsoft Acquisition – I Have Crossed All. When you look at what the Redfall team has come through, it’s amazing.”

“Fifteen years have passed, and it could be said that all this time I was in the shadows [Bethesda Game Studios]”, he tells PCGamesN. “We’re putting out a great game like Dishonored, they’re putting out an amazing Skyrim, it’s the best there is. We released Dishonored 2, the best game I’ve ever made, and they did a great thing with Fallout. We are very proud of what we do and we are very proud of the team; I like working at the same company as id Software, Shinji Mikami (Tango Gameworks) and Todd Howard, they are strong in every way and we learn from them.

“Starfield is going to be a great event and keep people happy for years to come, but that’s another thing. [from Redfall]. There’s some overlap between the audiences, but not quite, and we definitely have a different tone, but I like that [Bethesda Game Studios] It exists and I’ll be playing Starfield a lot.”

Again with a smile, he concludes:[Starfield] totally positive for me; it takes a lot of stress, to be honest. Arkane often proves to be a weak underdog; We are smaller than most teams. It would be terrible to be upset about that, like, “Oh, I’m in the company of a bunch of other strong teams that are making different plays.” For us, it’s strength.”

Starfield’s release date is set for September, while Redfall’s release date is May 1, though I’ll probably wait until after the vampires are gone before booking your trip. If you plan on doing it anyway, check out our Redfall gameplay preview for a look at the bloody new world of Arkane.
