Whether you play LoL or not, there’s no denying that League of Legends Arcane. The Netflix animated series from French studio Fortiche Production is one of the platform’s most successful shows, and has been widely praised outside of gaming’s core audience (which, make no mistake, is pretty big itself). So it’s no surprise to hear that a collaboration with Arcane could be in the works for one of the biggest esports events in the MOBA genre.
The LEC, the EMEA League of Legends championship covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa, is now in its fifth year, and Riot Games recently announced that it will host the 2023 LEC season finals in Montpellier in the south of France. Coincidentally, this is where part of the Fortiche team is after Arcane, and the tournament commissioner reacted to the natural speculation that followed.
“Honestly, there’s no big agenda or reason linking Fortiche’s presence in Montpellier and us there,” says LEC commissioner Artem Bykov (via Dot Esports). However, he confirms that the team is considering collaborating, saying that it would be “foolish” not to “somehow” partner with Fortiche. After all, what could be better than drawing fleeting fans of the series into the game itself?
Of course, it would be great to see something like a promotional video for the event created by Fortiche in the style of Arcane. It’s also possible that the game’s new skins will succeed the previous set of Arcane-style skins for Vi, Jace, Jinx, and Ekko. We certainly wouldn’t mind a full Arcane Season 2 trailer either; in fact, we would love to. Love Trailer for the second season of Arcane. Even just a little. Riot please?
