Lightfall Veil Destiny 2 will be explained in the Season of the Deep quest

The significance of Destiny 2 Lightfall Veil has left players scratching their heads, to the point that even major content creators like Byf have enjoyed the campaign’s incoherent narrative flow that leaves players chasing after something they don’t understand. But apparently responding to player complaints that a lack of consistency has resulted in a poor Lightfall campaign experience in an FPS game, Bungie is reporting that players will get answers about the meaning of the veil in Destiny 2 Season 21, titled Season of the Deep.

In a recent post for the game development studio’s This Week at Bungie blog series, blog writer Sam reveals that the upcoming Season of the Deep mission will allow players to explore Neomouna, teaching them “the nature of navigating through of the exploration of Osiris”. The quest will also contain “newly discovered” Ishtar Collective data and will be available to all Destiny 2 Lightfall owners, meaning players won’t have to pay for the Season Pass to complete it and get its rewards.

Additionally, the quest will reward players with three new panel skins (one per class):

  • Titan: Dart Storm
  • Hunter: Wicker Ghost
  • Warlock: Wanderer

Additionally, the mission will provide players with new legendary weapons. It appears to be a hand cannon, though Bungie hasn’t revealed any details about it other than concept art.

Although Bungie hasn’t explicitly stated this, it seems the decision to reveal information about the upcoming questline is aimed at appeasing players who have expressed frustration over unanswered questions about the veil’s meaning. Even Byfe, who the Destiny 2 community calls the game’s “Father of Knowledge,” posted a video in which he shares his frustration at not understanding the meaning of the Veil.

Now the question is whether it will be too little or too late for Destiny 2’s fanbase as Bungie looks to tie up the loose threads of this disjointed story.
