Best Base Locations in Sons of the Forest

We’ve marked some good base locations on the map above, keeping in mind what we’ve mentioned. Of course, this is purely a matter of personal preference, so if you see a nice place that you simply want to call home, go for it, just make sure there are some basic resources nearby.

Sons of the Forest base location explained

Here are a few things to consider when finding the best base location in Sons of the Forest:

  • Food and water
  • tanks
  • Space and grounds
  • Temperature
  • caves
  • enemies

Food and water

Of course, one of the key elements of survival in Sons of the Forest is knowing how to get water and where to find food. Some of these things are more readily available in certain areas of the map, so placing your base somewhere with plenty of deer, rabbits, and mushrooms, as well as fish and waterways, will provide you with food that is available all year long. .

tanks

You can easily link this to the point above, but place your base next to a lake or river. Of course, water is needed to quench thirst and increase stamina, but large bodies of water also protect you from enemies, since they can’t swim. There is a small island in the northwest corner of the map, but we recommend (as you can see on the map above) to build in an area surrounded mostly by water so that you and Kelvin have easy access to the mainland (Kelvin can’t (also can’t swim), yes, and delivering resources to your base is easier, but if you are surrounded by water on all sides, you have only one corner to defend – until winter.

Space and grounds

This is now up for discussion, or should we say, personal preference. We initially felt that building among the trees in Sons of the Forest not only gave you great access to resources, but also acted almost as a defense against cannibals and mutants. However, since they follow you much farther than in the Forest and climb trees, you may prefer to build in open areas so that you can more easily see what is approaching you. After all, a blanket to you is a blanket to them. Perhaps a clearing like the one we marked on the map above that is still surrounded by trees for construction.

The terrain itself is a bit more obvious, try to fight as even as possible. Among other things, it will be much easier to build, but again there will be fewer places for enemies to ambush.

Temperature

When it comes to the winter “months” (read: days), the water sources freeze and it becomes a bit more difficult to survive. However, the central part of the Sons of the Forest map is still covered in snow and cannibals and it is much more difficult to survive there. If you spawn in this area, head for warmer, greener terrain before you think about building your base.

caves

Another important thing to consider when choosing your Sons of the Forest base location is if there are any caves nearby. Caves are one of the best places to find tools, weapons, and resources, as well as access underground bunkers. You will need to access most of them during your survival adventures, so build your base somewhere in the northwest of the map, in the most populated area of the cave entrances, this will more easily get you there to all of them much faster. . . and therefore requires fewer resources each time you explore.

enemies

Finally, reduce the risk of these savage cannibals surrounding your base by finding a place where they are not. Of course, they are everywhere, but they are less numerous the greater the distance between you and the cannibal camps and the further you go from the forest.

With that said, you should be ready to build a solid foundation, but don’t forget to ask Kelvin to do some of the hard work as well. One of the best things to remember about building, especially if you’re doing it in a tough spot, is that you can move logs with the Sons of the Forest rope gun, so make sure you have a few, one, and many. rope. cord – convenient.
