Bungie today released the latest addition to the Destiny 2 franchise across all platforms: Destiny 2: Fall of Light. Lightfall is the penultimate chapter of the Light and Darkness saga, in which the Guardians will face the evil forces of the Legion of Shadows, explore a hidden city on the surface of Neptune, and discover a new subclass of Darkness: Thread.

In Fall of Light, the Guardians must stop the Witness and his new apprentice Calus in order to stop the apocalypse. Along the way, the Guardians will encounter the Shadow Legion, including the terrifying new and extraordinary Executioners, who are determined to lay waste to Neomuna’s tech capital.
Guardians will wield the power of a new subclass in Lightfall: Thread, which will give them the ability to wield the threads that connect the universe and grant them unprecedented combat and movement capabilities. The thread will provide powerful new attacks for each class of Guardians that they can use in their own way, as well as a new hook ability that will increase mobility and expand the possibilities of movement in the game.
The season accompanying the Fall of Light, the Season of Resistance, will be released on the same day as Destiny 2’s new expansion and depicts the moment when Mara Sov and the Queen’s Guard summon the Guardians to investigate the Pyramid outposts that appear across the planet and unite to cast challenge to the worst enemies of mankind. Join the Resistance Battleground, a new three-player activity available this season, where Guardians are challenged to use their newly acquired awakened abilities to open portals to the Higher Plane and challenge the Legion of Shadows.
New raid and race for the first in the world will be released on March 10
Shortly after the release of Fall of Light, Bungie will release their new raid Root of Nightmares. Destiny Raids are ambitious high-level missions designed for six experienced Guardians who want to test their combat skills and ability to work in a team, think quickly and solve seemingly intractable problems.
Nightmare Root will be available to all Fall of Light players on March 10 at 5:00 pm ET. With the launch, Bungie will also launch a global competition where the first team in the world to complete a raid will win. Each member of the winning squad will receive a unique belt as well as the glory of earning the “World’s First” title. Stay tuned for the official announcement of the world’s first winning team days after the debut of the raid.
Destiny 2: Fall of Light
Calus has returned as the Witness’ apprentice and threatens to destroy Neomun’s neon city. The Guardians are determined to face the apocalypse, knowing that this time our end has already begun.
Thread: Thread is the new elemental power of the Darkness in Destiny 2, which allows Guardians to access the cosmic networks of the universe to unleash powerful attacks. Each Guardian class uses the thread differently, and any Guardian able to use the thread can take advantage of the grappling hook ability to increase their mobility in and out of combat.
Neomuna: Located on Neptune, this neon city is Destiny 2’s new destination. Besieged by the Shadow Legion of Calus, Neomuna is also home to the Guardian’s new allies, the heroic Cloud Walkers, who prevent the city from being invaded.
Legendary Campaign: The Legendary Campaign mode returns in Fall of Light. Designed for players who want to enjoy the thrilling story behind Destiny 2’s latest storyline while testing their skills and earning the best rewards.
Customization of equipment and modifications. New gear customization and modification features make customizing your Guardians faster and easier than ever before. Players will be able to view and enter new mods on the same screen, as well as save gear and mods to quickly accessible set slots.
Guardian Ranks and Commendations: Lightfall comes with two new systems designed to encourage friendliness and team spirit during matches so players can better understand each other’s skill levels and experience. Commendations allow players to reward squad members with various Commendations for completing group missions. With Guardian Ranks, players will be able to get an idea of the experience and skill level of each Guardian, as well as be able to earn Commendations and perform in-game activities to increase their rank.
Terminal Overload: In this new mission, the Guardians must fend off Vex and Cabal attacks while the enemy attempts to take over Neptunian City with their forces.
New Raid – Root of Nightmares: A frightening presence has been discovered coming from an unknown time and place. Now the Guardians must face the ancient threat that looms before them. The Raid will premiere on March 10.
The Annual Pass + Fall of Light Edition is now available on all platforms. In addition to what’s included in the Fall of Light Standard Edition (Fall of Light expansion, raid, and access to the current season), the Fall of Light Annual Pass + Edition includes:

Season of Resistance
The final season of Destiny 2, the Season of Endurance, is here and players can start climbing through the new seasonal ranks right now. In Season of Resistance, the Vanguard will call on its closest allies to take revenge on the Traveler. The Guardians will have to master the powers of the Awakened to resist the Shadow Legion’s invasion and prove themselves worthy of the Queen’s Guard.
Resistance Battleground: In this new three-player challenge, the Guardians must bypass the Shadow Legion’s security system and enter outposts from the Plane of Ascension. Explore the abyss and find the missing prisoners by performing rituals that open portals to safety.
Vanguard Ops Playlist Update: The Vanguard Ops playlist now features Stealth and Psionic Battlegrounds, as well as an updated version of two strikes: The Arms Dealer and Lake of Shadows.
Guardian Games 2023: The annual Guardian Class Showdown will take place in May and will be free to all Destiny 2 players. Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans will compete to complete events, contribute medallions for cool rewards, earn a commemorative statue in the Tower, and earn bragging rights for an entire year .
