Jedi Survivor won’t be the last we’ll see Cal Kestis, Respawn clues

If Respawn is successful, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor certainly won’t be the last we see from Cal Kestis, as the game’s director reveals that he’d like to make a third adventure game.

As we get closer to the release date for Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Respawn has shown that it’s treating Cal’s conflict saga as a trilogy and not just a few games.

Speaking with IGN Unfiltered, Jedi Survivor director Stig Asmussen revealed that the team was already considering a sequel before Fallen Order’s release. “I mean, to be honest, we weren’t just talking [Fallen Order]. And those are the conversations that when we break this story with Lucasfilm, it’s like, “Well, where do we go with the second game?”

“I always wanted to see it as a trilogy,” he continues. “So how do we take Cal and the team to new places beyond what we did in the first game? We had a pretty good idea of when we wanted The Revenant to happen, what the stakes and tone would be, what Cal would be up against, and how the team would handle that.

“There are ideas of what we could do beyond that,” he concludes. So yes, Star Wars fans, now you can get excited.

If you want to hear it for yourself, the corresponding segment starts at 2:50 p.m.

Asmussen also clarifies that the third game will be built on Unreal Engine 5 instead of Unreal Engine 4 Survivor, calling it “a safe assumption” given the number of games currently released that use the shiny new engine.

For Star Wars fans, another Jedi game is definitely a dream come true. Fallen Order was the first Star Wars game I played as a kid other than the Lego games, where I basically ran around like General Grievous, twirling my many lightsabers around like some kind of glowing mechanical tornado. Fallen Order added a lot more depth to the franchise and encouraged me to explore the larger world of the series, mainly because I loved the Nightsisters and Dathomir.

I hope mysterious magic users show up in Survivor, but in any case, I’m very happy with its release. It’s worth checking Jedi Survivor’s system requirements before launch to make sure your PC can fit the warp drive, and if possible, try out some of the best Star Wars games while you wait for release day.
