Character Upgrades in Destiny 2 allows you to speed up game progress on your alternate characters. As for Lightfall, character updates allow players to skip the campaign on alt accounts or add their alt characters to the game with limited access…for a fee.
The main benefit of character boosts in Destiny 2 is that they unlock some of the best content in the game for your alternate characters without needing to go through the same power level or campaign for all characters. While this is a convenient and quick way to level up a character in an FPS game, it does have its downsides. However, it’s an attractive option for people who want to skip the grind to prepare for the first day of the Destiny 2 Lightfall raid, or who don’t have time to rehearse the campaign with two other characters.
Destiny 2 character leveling cost
Bungie has yet to reveal how much it will cost players to level up their characters in Lightfall. However, in previous campaigns, the boost cost 2000 silver, or around $20. We will update this section as soon as Bungie shares the cost of these benefits.
Types of leveling characters in Destiny 2
As of the release of Destiny 2 Lightfall, there are two types of character boosters in the space game. One allows players to increase the power levels of their alternate characters. The other allows players to skip the campaign as alternate characters, giving them access to a significant amount of in-game content without having to spend hours replaying the same campaign.
Increase character power level
In order to increase a character’s power level in the game, you must first reach the minimum cap of 1750 with their main character. You can then “boost” your alternate characters by paying the required amount of money. The promotion unlocks the full armor set for that character to be at that soft level. This process saves you from having to hit the soft limit of a three-character game.
Campaign Character Boost
When it comes to Lightfall, Bungie gives you the option to pay to skip the alternate character campaign if you’ve completed the Lightfall campaign on one of your characters. Once you’ve completed the campaign, you’ll have the option to “strengthen” your alternate characters, skipping the campaign and granting access to destinations that would normally only be available after completing certain campaign missions. Perhaps most importantly, paying this fee also unlocks the Destiny 2 Strand subclass on alternate accounts. Therefore, a player who completes the campaign and unlocks Strand for one character can immediately unlock Strand for all characters without having to complete campaign hours a second and third time.
Please note that players who choose this option will lose any rewards they could have earned by completing the campaign, such as experience from Trials or Triumphs. Fortunately, even if you decide to upgrade your characters this way, you’ll still be able to play the campaign content whenever you want.
