As we get closer to the Diablo 4 release date and Lilith’s Armageddon draws closer, Blizzard has introduced a new feature in Diablo 4 Stronghold, a new dungeon crawling experience that will impact the wider RPG universe.
As Lilith’s corruption seeps into the very soil of the once-proud Sanctuary, many of the world’s most sacred places have fallen into her hands. These are Diablo 4 Strongholds, an all-new system that modifies and shapes the larger world of Sanctuary as you interact with them.
Strongholds are initially private encounters that can be completed solo or in a group. However, once you fend off the minions from hell where they came from, the space becomes public, and in turn, becomes a bustling metropolis.
Liberating the Fortress will bring you XP, new high-level gear, and all that good stuff; but they do more than that. Sanctuary residents will begin flocking to the area, giving you access to new merchants, potential shortcuts, and even helping you unlock previously inaccessible dungeons.
They are also the key to increasing your fame, which is a new system in Diablo but very similar to what we see in World of Warcraft. During your journey through the Sanctuary, you will encounter various factions, each of which is worth learning about. Releasing ancient holy sites is a one-way ticket to friendship, so I advise you to hold on to it.
As a long time Diablo fan, Love nothing remotely new, but this system looks absolutely amazing. It’s unique, it’s a great way to explore the world of Diablo 4 and it’s a new set of challenges that will enhance your end game experience. Step back you brat from hell, these fortresses are mine.
