Map of Children of the Forest it includes many of the same features as the first game, including caves, forests, and water. However, developer Endnight Games has revealed that the sequel’s map is four times the size of the first game’s, and that doesn’t include the underground cave system.

You can spawn in a few random places on the Sons of the Forest map, and from there, open-world gameplay is your oyster. Traveling by land will take you through difficult terrain, so you’ll need to stock up on food and make sure you know how to get water in Sons of the Forest to keep up your stamina. Your GPS tracker is still there, but if you need help mapping, here’s everything you need to know about the Sons of the Forest map: including spoilers, so be careful if you want to jump into the sequel knowing nothing.

Sons of the Forest Item Locations

In the sandbox game Endnight, you can stumble upon a plethora of items, including Sons of the Forest weapons and armor, that will help you stay alive as you fight Sons of the Forest’s hordes of mutants. Tools are by far the most important when it comes to progression though, as they will provide you with the means to reach the item slots needed to access the ending of Sons of the Forest.

Caves in general are a great source of supplies, but they also contain a lot of these progression items, so check their location on the map above. However, we have highlighted all of our individual guides for specific Sons of the Forest item locations.

Son of the Forest GPS Tracker

Usefully enough, you start the survival game with the GPS tracker you had before your helicopter crashed. His GPS tracker shows you all points of interest in your immediate area, including Sons of the Forest GPS locators for Kelvin and Virginia. To zoom in or out on the GPS map, press the middle mouse button.

Like The Forest, the Sons of the Forest map features varied and dangerous terrain to explore, so it pays to know what you’ll encounter as you explore. Although the seasons change in Sons of the Forest, there are areas of the map with snowy terrain, and you should also keep an eye out for weather changes. The center of the map is the coldest area dominated by snowy mountains. The Outskirts will keep you warm at all times of the year, so you might prefer to build your base on the edge of the Sons of the Forest map; check out our Sons of the Forest build guide for helpful tips.

Sons of the Forest takes place in “Zone 2”, the location shown at the end of “The Forest”. Following their claim that the map was four to five times larger than the first game, Endnight Games told YouTuber Farket that Sons of the Forest “is on Site 2. However, since we drew this map prior to development of this game, card and this model will not match exactly.
