This Genshin Impact leak suggests that HoYoverse will be adding a third character banner phase to its anime game. This would increase the number of available five-star banners to nine per update, providing more options to use with each release. It’s probably a necessary change when looking at an ever-expanding roster – characters like Yula haven’t appeared on banners since late 2021 because there just wasn’t enough space.
Hu Tao and Shenhe were recently in the same boat as Yula, waiting for over a year to be available for filming again. Fortunately, Hu Tao is currently in the Genshin Impact version 3.4 banner, and Shenhe is confirmed to appear in the second half of version 3.5.
However, Yula has been missing since November 2021 without an official mention of her banner lately. She won’t even be on the bill for the next Mondstadt event update, which is strange considering there will be four characters available that have nothing to do with Mondstadt: Ayaka, Shenhe, Dehya, and Cino.
As HoYoverse starts adding new characters that can be obtained from Fontaine, the older variants will start getting fewer and fewer reruns. Currently, each update lasts around six weeks, so Banners can be split over two weeks with a third phase.
Adding a third banner phase makes sense, and this leak from Team China suggests it will happen sometime after the 4.0 release. The information from the China team has been translated and posted on the Reddit thread linked above. It looks like this change will happen before version 4.3, but after you’ve logged into Fontaine.
However, version 4.0 is still a long way off, so it’s best to focus on getting Hu Tao and Yelan back before they disappear again for a few months when Genshin Impact version 3.5 launches next week.
