With Overwatch 2 Season 3 in full swing, there are still plenty of changes on the horizon for the Blizzard FPS game, and now an official update outlines how Overwatch 2 matchmaking adjustments are being made for those who fall into the wrong group.
Overwatch 2 Executive Producer Jared Noyce speaks as we learn more about Overwatch’s matchmaking changes. Upon release, the system was heavily criticized on Twitter, with fans demanding that Blizzard do something about it.
“Hello Jared! Is it possible to get updates on the current situation with MM? writes one of the Twitter users. “The changes made by the developers haven’t changed anything and, for example, as a master, it’s hard for me to get sucked into silver, gold, and platinum matches. There’s something wrong with him.”
“I think we’ll have updates on Aaron’s blog next week,” Noyce said in response. “Some improvements have been made, but a new round of changes is expected after the backstage weekend.”
There are seven ranks in Overwatch 2’s competitive mode, broken down by skill level, but it seems like many are still having a hard time playing matches with higher and lower level players.
Blizzard has been trying to achieve more transparency for weeks now, with Noyce citing semi-regular blog updates from the development team and Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller. So look forward to more this week and get your popcorn ready.
We don’t know exactly when the next Overwatch 2 dev blog will be, but this week is the perfect time. While you can currently see how Overwatch 2 MMR actually works, it still feels like the system is a bit broken when players are in brackets.
