Bizarre Wild Hearts PC performance fix confirmed by developer

With the first Wild Hearts PC patch aimed at addressing performance issues in a Monster Hunter-style game still in development, some players have noticed a simple fix that drastically increases frame rates, and that’s not what you might expect. While this simple setting change won’t fix the issue for everyone, Wild Hearts developer Omega Force confirms that this tweak can result in a noticeable performance boost.

The Wild Hearts performance fix was first shared by a user named “Rian Johnson” on the Steam forums, who called it a “shaky workaround”. They say that even though their overlay told them the game was running fine, they noticed severe frame rate drops while playing the game. After a friend noticed that the game ran better with headphones on, he did some experiments and found that the difference was noticeable.

By changing the game’s audio settings from the default stereo to 7.1/5.1 surround sound, they noticed a noticeable improvement in gameplay: “Now I’m above 60fps, and that’s true. Now you can play the game.” Several other players responded in the comments that they found this unexpected fix actually worked for them. It was also posted on Reddit by Wild Hearts by “ProfessionalAnimal27”, which received an official response from Omega Force.

“We tested this fix and confirmed reports that in some cases changing the ‘output setting’ in game audio settings from stereo to 7.1/5.1 can, again, in some cases lead to better performance,” says the developer of wolf_hands. account. They add: “This workaround doesn’t seem to work in all cases and players already running the recommended specs above 60fps probably won’t see an improvement, but while we investigate and work on a fix, try it yourself and see if it works.” . improves performance for you.

So it’s a very strange decision, but it seems to carry enough weight that you can try it for yourself if you’ve had problems with the game’s performance since its release. Omega Force would like to thank the two users who shared the fix, as well as “any Hunters affected by this, for their patience while we work on a permanent fix.” This confirms that the planned patch is still scheduled for release next week. Let’s hope there are full patches soon, as the game itself is very promising.
