Joining Méthé is a team of industry veterans including Benoît Frappier, Producer, Frédéric Duroc, Game Director, and Martin Paradis, Chief Technology Officer. The studio also intends to hire 150 more people over the next 3 years in key roles including animation, programming and head of human resources.
KRAFTON Montreal’s first project will be an adaptation of the famous fantasy novel “The Bird That Drinks Tears” by Yong-do Lee, a widely recognized pioneer of the Korean fantasy genre. As one of South Korea’s best-selling fantasy writers, Lee has exceptional imagination, building complex worlds and filling them with complex characters.
Since 2021, KRAFTON has been working on preparing the world and characters of the novel for The Bird That Drinks Tears IP expansion. In particular, the artbook released in November 2022 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of “The Bird Drinking Tears” topped the weekly bestseller lists of major Korean online bookstores for four days of pre-sales.
