Big Core Keeper update brings a visual overhaul and Zelda twist

The popular survival game Steam Core Keeper now comes with improved visuals, a host of new features like gameplay tools and improved customization, and a few nods to Zelda, especially Ocarina of Time, thanks to a new Core Keeper update that also adds something of softness. seasonal content just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Quality of Love update for Core Keeper kicks off with a huge improvement to sandbox gameplay with improved shadows and lighting. Special attention has been paid to the underground areas with more realistic light sources, better shadow dispersion and new light-emitting surfaces.

The soft neons and bright oranges that define the game’s visuals now look more realistic on screen, casting deeper and more varied shadows. There are also new permanent features that enhance Core Keeper character customization and make your precious downtime in dungeon crawling more relaxed and satisfying than ever. Along with new hairstyles and clothing colors, and the added ability to use multiple gear presets, you can now access the Magic Mirror to customize your Core Keeper character at any time.

On top of that, Core Keeper feels a bit like Zelda thanks to the introduction of instruments into the game, including the cello, flute, harp, and Link’s most famous disciple, the ocarina. You can create your own musical instruments and play with your friends to create your own underground orchestra. Collect sheet music from across the game and combine them with your homemade musical instruments to keep them sweet and tuneful between missions.

But this is a Quality of Love update, so it wouldn’t be complete without the seasonal Valentine’s Day content. From February 8 to February 28, you can collect love letters around the Core Keeper and use the new themed workbench to create Valentine’s Day-themed clothing.

A new weapon, Cupid’s Bow, allows you to incapacitate enemies with the overwhelming power of love: hit them with an arrow and they will stop attacking you. There are also Valentine’s Day decorations like candles and a heart-shaped rug, and even a unique ring you can gift to your favorite cave mate. The Core Keeper Quality of Love update will be released on February 8.
