An announced game set in the Titanfall and Apex Legends universe has been canceled by developer Respawn, according to a new report. This new FPS game, called Titanfall Legends, was dealt an ax after publisher Electronic Arts posted a disappointing financial forecast for the quarter and announced it would also be canceling its Battlefield and Apex Legends mobile games.
According to a Bloomberg report, company management told 50 developers working on the canceled game that they would try to find new developer positions at the company and that severance would be paid to anyone who couldn’t be used.
It’s likely the same single-player Apex Legends first-person shooter Respawn signed on for last summer, calling it “a developer’s dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by to the unique universe in which it inhabits”.
Respawn has another single-player FPS game believed to still be in development, with some details revealed in January 2022. At the time, Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb believed that this game, which uses a new original IP , it would be released in 2024. , but “probably in 2025”.
The studio is currently preparing for a release date for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was recently pushed back to the end of April for further polishing and optimization.
Apex Legends is one of the best battle royale games out there, but we really wanted to be able to explore its colorful world in single player. Maybe in time we will, and of course we’re still waiting for Titanfall 3.
