If Warzone 2’s existing loadout, loot, and gulag systems have frustrated you thus far and you’re longing for the serene days of Call of Duty Warzone 1, the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 update should change up CoD Battle Royale’s offerings. into something closer to its classic style as Infinity Ward and Activision plan drastic changes.
Let’s talk about the team first. Getting the best gear sets in Warzone 2 is now easier than it was at launch, thanks to an update from Raven Software that restores gear drop markers and makes them easier to get.
With Season 2, the price of Gear Drop Tokens is going down, so you can get the best Warzone 2 assault rifles easier and faster. A second public gear drop event will also be added: the first and fifth rounds of each Warzone 2 game will now give you the chance to claim your custom gear.
Warzone 2’s loot system is also getting an overhaul. Instead of collecting gear and weapons through a menu, containers now drop loot to the ground in the form of floating collectibles, minimizing time spent navigating Warzone’s convoluted item screens. Custom perk packs are also making a return, so if you’ve got a handpicked list of abilities to complement your best Warzone 2 TAQ-56 download, you can finally bring them to Al Mazra.
Activision and Infinity Ward say the feature will roll out over time, initially with limited benefits, with the rest rolling out and becoming available gradually. If you miss the more personalized and varied gameplay of Warzone 1, where everyone competes with their own unique team, this is a welcome update.
The biggest nod to Warzone 1, though, is the new Gulag system. Instead of the existing 2v2 Gulag, Warzone 2 will now return to the classic 1v1 system and will also remove the Juggernaut-inspired Jailer in place of the old Capture the Flag mechanic. The Gulag map is also replaced to feature an arena more suitable for one-on-one combat.
Other changes include more buy stations, each with an unlimited number of gear drop markers, as well as more cash for floor loot. The minimum amount you will now find when looting containers is $800, and cash registers now yield a minimum of $500.
The cost of primary weapons at buy stations is also reduced. Basically, it’s easier to get money, find a purchase point, and a phone from a dropdown menu, possibly making Warzone 2 even closer to Warzone 1. At the same time, when Season 2 starts on February 15, all will. start with a three-plate bulletproof vest, for more confidence in the fight.
Warzone 2’s new features and twists on old mechanics were a worthwhile experience, but it’s nice to see Infinity Ward and co. Recognize where they failed and fix player issues. Warzone 1 gameplay, but on a Warzone 2 map? Sounds like a good deal to me. You can see more detailed CoD changes here.
With all this new money making the rounds for the latest CoD, you’re going to want to know how to find all of the Warzone 2 strongholds and backyard keys. However, take a look at how to get Warzone 2 Twitch Drops if you like the extra goodies.
