Speculation on the release date of Minecraft Legends
Minecraft Legends release date is 2023. It will be released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. At the start of the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, Xbox head of development Sarah Bond revealed that all of the featured games will be released within the next 12 months. Barring any unforeseen delays, we can conclude that Minecraft Legends will most likely be released in June 2023.
Xbox Game Pass for Minecraft Legends
If you want to play Minecraft with an Xbox Games Pass subscription, the answer is yes. Minecraft Legends is coming to both Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on day one.

Here is the store announcement trailer for Minecraft Legends. While most of what’s shown is a cutscene, there are some gameplay footage towards the end that give us an idea of how it goes.

Minecraft Legends was also featured during Minecraft Live 2022 showcasing PVP gameplay. From what we can tell, it’s probably quite different from your typical real-time gaming experience. In terms of gameplay, the official Mojang blog states that Minecraft Legends “has strategy elements at its core, but its mechanics are inspired by immersive action games. You can explore the familiar but in many ways new Overworld from a third-person perspective. You will protect peaceful settlements and fight hordes of piglins to stop the spread of their empty filth. You are at the center of every battle you fight, fighting alongside your allies and pointing them in the right direction.”
Indirect control mechanisms have already appeared in real-time strategy games, especially in the Majesty series. We envision the player having direct control over their avatar’s actions and movements through a “guided” or “managed” mechanism to tell NPC allies what to do. From what we’ve seen so far, this is likely to only apply in combat.
Mojang claims that the player will explore procedurally generated biomes, collect resources, and use them to build bases. The trailer shows the player planting a banner to force their allies to move, but it also shows two alleyways involved in deconstructing the environment, presumably for resource gathering and construction.
Minecraft Legends also features competitive and cooperative multiplayer, though no specific details have been released. There was no mention of crossplay either, though we’d like to see at least PC for Xbox.
