Expect to see changes to Overwatch 2’s max loadout next season, as Blizzard says the way hero switching affects your loadout will be adjusted in Overwatch 2 Season 3. Executive Producer Jared Noyce shares details on the status development news on Twitter, noting that Blizzard is focused on addressing “underlying issues” with Overwatch’s competitive play and multiplayer team balancing before moving on to other features.

Currently, when you switch heroes in Overwatch 2, you save 30% of your ultimate charge. This makes quickly switching to pick your opponent’s counterhero after losing your first fight much more powerful, since you don’t incur as many penalties for switching. Overwatch 2 content creator “SVB” took to Twitter to complain about the change, stating that “the tanking experience has gone straight down the toilet because of it” and asking why the developers haven’t.

In response, Noyce comments: “Season 3 is going to change! Details will be in the patch notes, if not before.” he takes care charm a call for more brotherhood, saying: “Lack of recognition is not lack of interest, just to be clear. It’s much less interesting – we need better ways to communicate with players about these things.”

Noyce explains that players are currently in one of three situations. There’s silence from developers as they work on new features, developer-specific tweets that the vast majority of gamers probably won’t see, or lengthy blogs covering broader topics. He says: “We need a faster middle ground. This problem is not difficult to solve, it has simply taken a backseat before launch and planning for 2023.”

Drawing comparisons to Destiny 2’s regular This Week at Bungie feature, he comments, “As a Destiny player and former Destiny developer, I agree that TWAB is awesome. It takes a long time to get something like this though. Noyce He says he wants the team to start with short rolling updates and then build them out. add“I don’t blame developers who don’t want to communicate that way. It’s scary,” noting the harassment and death threats many developers face on social media.

Noyce also previously commented that the current minimal communication means all developer tweets are checked for potential news (sorry Jared). However, moving towards more regular “official” communication in the form of blogs will certainly help keep the community up to date on current plans. Live service games like Overwatch 2 will always be under constant surveillance, so clear communication is always welcome.

Ultimate Charge isn’t the only change in Season 3. In response to a question about the possibility of features like tournament modes or hero select, Noyce notes, “There are enough fundamental issues that need to be addressed, and I think the features so (if we did) it would appear much later. the road.” He mentioned complaints about confusing rank updates, team imbalance, and general matchmaking issues as priorities for the team before considering new Overwatch features.
