The Shambhala Monastery rooftop plaza in Overwatch 2 confuses players

Overwatch 2’s “Monastery of Shambhala” cinematic confuses players with a confusing design inconsistency. The high ground can give players a huge advantage in competitive multiplayer games, so it’s always worth looking for ways to level up your opponents for that literal edge. However, a very strong point in the newest map of Overwatch 2 was not seen much at first, because it did not seem feasible.

In setting this up, it’s important to note that most Overwatch 2 sloped roofs can’t be placed upright. If you try to land on them, you’ll still slide over them and land sideways, though they can still provide a small opportunity for airborne characters like Pharah and Echo to help maintain their height advantage.

This is not the case for some places in the Shambhali Monastery. Although many tile roofs work the same way, there are roofs that you can simply stand on as if they were normal dirt. This means that not only flying heroes can sit on it, but also anyone who can jump or climb high, like Baptiste’s new support and Kiriko, or even the rest of the roster if paired with Symmetra. teleporter

Overwatch 2 Twitch streamers “Emongg”, “Flats” and “Seagull” watched the glitch in action and were absolutely baffled to realize that the ceiling could be used as a standard height. “I didn’t know you could walk on that roof like that,” Emongg said in disbelief. “Why does it work like this?”

While that in itself is notable as a potential selling point that may have gone under the radar before, it actually highlights a pretty major design issue. The reason many players don’t even consider trying to stand on the roof, despite it being a fairly large and relatively low facility in a high traffic area, is that they don’t watch like you should be able to.

Over the years of playing Overwatch and its sequel, we’ve all gotten used to the fact that those sloping ceilings aren’t something you can stand on. The ceiling in question isn’t even the flattest on the map; in fact, it tilts at quite a remarkable angle. Overwatch Reddit players agree as well, mentioning how many times they’ve played the map “not even Considering which would be a viable high ground.

Some users say they discovered it after seeing it appear on Twitch streams or YouTube videos, while others found it only to find out they weren’t immediately sent back to earth. Another laughs, “No, don’t show everyone my Bap spot lol.” With this growing awareness in the community, we’ll probably soon know if this was a deliberate design decision or just an overlooked bug.
