advertised width Endless Dungeon’s release date has been set for May 18., which means that the roguelike game will soon fall into the hands of the fans. Endless Dungeon was first announced at The Game Awards 2020 and features bullet and turret defense in the genre’s usual dungeon crawler.
A sequel to 2014’s Dungeon of the Endless, Endless Dungeon connects to the multiverse “Endless” Amplitude and follows shipwreck survivors stranded on a massive derelict space station. To escape, they must reach the heart of the station, but to get there, they’ll have to fight their way through hordes of meat-hungry monsters.
Like Dungeon of the Endless, Endless Dungeon combines components from multiple genres. As your team progresses through the station, they collect resources and upgrades, allowing them to build a variety of turrets to help them fight off the alien hordes. However, it’s also a two-stick shooter, so when combat breaks out, you’ll be shooting and using active skills to control threats.
Amplitude says you can dive solo or squad up for co-op play with up to three players. Choose from an arsenal of weapons, from rotisserie flamethrowers to poisonous sniper rifles, and your characters will find new gear every time they hit the road.
As with most roguelikes, you can likely expect frequent deaths – Amplitude was keen to point this out in their communications and marketing for Endless Dungeon. There’s part of the charm in that, though: sure, most races end in defeat, but you’ll almost always have something to show for it when you’re sent back to the saloon to plan a new journey.
Endless Dungeon is now available to pre-order on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
