Ubisoft claims that developers working on the recently canceled “Project Q” have been moved to “priority projects”, i.e. things that the company really hopes to get some bang for their buck (especially after news of company executives asking for help employees to reverse the company’s bad position). Ubisoft developers who were working on the canceled multiplayer game were transferred to help develop Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Ubisoft announced last week that it was postponing Skull & Bones for the sixth time and canceling three unannounced projects to cut costs and save some cash, which has been a recurring theme for tech companies in recent weeks. While two of the canceled projects remain unknown, one of them appears to be Project Q, the multiplayer arena game Ubisoft partially announced last year.
This is reported by the correspondent of Kotaku. Ethan Gah, it looks like the development teams that worked on Project Q have been transferred to work on Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Gatch also says that initial reviews of Project Q were overwhelmingly positive, with the general consensus being that it was a “promising project”.
Gach said:Ubisoft did not respond to multiple requests for comment regarding the cancellationproject Q yesterday, but I heard that some thought it was a very promising project. As far as I understand, the commands for Assassin’s Creed Mirage have been redistributed”.
Ubisoft did not respond to Gach’s requests for comment on the cancellation of Project Q, although it did inform VGC: “We can confirm that we will no longer support the development of Project Q in order to focus on the priority projects that our teams are reallocating to.”
Given that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is likely to be Ubisoft’s next big game in 2023, this studio statement could be related to rumors that Project Q’s development teams have moved to Mirage, as it’s by far the highest priority project for it right now.
New Assassin game goes back to basics
As previously reported, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be a smaller project and more focused on the story of the Assassins, just like previous games in the franchise. It looks like Ubisoft may not be quite ready to drop all the details that have become synonymous with their RPGs, however Stéphane Boudon warned that Mirage “will have a richer and denser map compared to the first ACs, as well as more playability, more interactions between systems, and more depth.”
According to her in an interview:With its more condensed scope and clear focus on Basim and his coming-of-age story, our main goal with Mirage is to provide a complete immersion in 9th century Baghdad.” Bodon concluded.“And the main events of that time for the Hidden Ones. We wanted this game to be standalone so everyone would have fun.”

About Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other Ubisoft studios, the game follows the saga of Eivor, a legendary Viking leader who left Norway in the 9th century AD due to wars and increasingly scarce resources. In Assassins Creed Valhalla, players will experience the relentless fighting style of Viking warriors with improved dual-wield combat and experience new features such as raids, settlement building, and equipment progression and upgrade systems. Political alliances, combat decisions, and dialogue options can influence the world of Assassins Creed Valhalla, and players must choose their path wisely to protect their clan’s future.
