Indie developer Sunnyside Games, in partnership with Dear Villagers, is proud to announce their next platform game: Nocturnal (Steam, trailer). Nocturnal is coming to PC and consoles this fall. Inspired by ancient Persia, it’s an odyssey of exploration and action where players must fight back against an ominous fog that shrouds an ancient island. Control the fire to reveal the secrets hidden under the mist!

After a difficult journey across the turbulent sea, Ardeshir, warrior of the Unquenchable Flame, returns to his native island of Nahran, shrouded in a gloomy fog. Ardeshir must rely on fire to extinguish the sinister forces that have taken over his homeland. The flame has many uses here. They can dispel fog, set landscapes on fire, turn on cars, and burn creatures of dark magic that are immune to conventional weapons. But be careful: you can’t breathe in the fog, so you’ll have to use your wits to keep it away.
“With Nocturnal, we wanted to combine the immediacy and timelessness of classic platform adventures with more modern dynamics,” said Sunnyside Games co-founder Gabriel Sonderegger. “Fire and mist give players a fine balance between feeling weak and downtrodden and fleeting moments of triumph when they cover their firearms. We think it makes the classic genre unique and we hope everyone can play Nocturnal when it releases later this year.”
