The wonderful open world of the ex-Skyrim developer will save you from dying in screenshots

The former Bethesda-based developer, who has worked on several Fallout, Skyrim, and upcoming Starfield games, is working on a mythical hunting sim and has just revealed that you’ll be able to explore a fantasy game world without worrying about a dark creature from folklore. . . tear you into a thousand little pieces, and that feels good.

Nate Perkypile is currently working on The Axis Unseen, an open world game that focuses on hunting creatures from world folklore. Axis Unseen is five times the size of Skyrim, while Purkeypile expands the world and fills it with completely different biomes, since it lacks Skyrim’s caves and interiors.

There are many places to explore that undergo dramatic visual changes depending on the time of day, from snow-capped peaks to dense forests with light shining through the trees. Dim Marshes is also included if you want to feel like FromSoftware in The Axis Unseen.

The beauty of The Axis Unseen hasn’t gone unnoticed by both fans and Purkeypile, as in response to a fan who feared he’d be killed if he stopped to take too many screenshots, Purkeypile said, “I plan to add a photo mode. and a pacifist mode for people who just want to relax and explore and not get killed by monsters.”

More open-world games that focus on combat (of which, let’s face it, there are plenty) should definitely do that. It can break the game loop a bit, but it’s a great idea for those who really want to turn off the head-up display and enjoy the world around them, like taking a virtual nature walk with a camera.

However, Axis Unseen isn’t all that Purkeypile has been working on of late; we interviewed him for Starfield because he was still working at Bethesda relatively early in the game’s development. He told us all about the size of the workforce and how the team worked to create brand new intellectual property. Purkeypile also had a lot of ideas for Fallout 5 (but they didn’t work at all in the game), if he’s interested.

You can learn more about The Axis Unseen and add it to your wishlist on Steam.

If you’re looking to play games like Bethesda’s smash hit even more, we’ve compiled a list of the best games like Skyrim for you to try while you wait for Axis Unseen, or you can make Tamriel feel like new. with the best Skyrim mods in place.
