We know Genshin Impact 4.0 Release Date is set to release later this year, and we’ve spent enough time playing it to find out what this big update might introduce, including a new region called Source.
You can expect something big from free PC games as we head into the middle of the year. Genshin Impact 2.0 introduced Inazuma, a new fantasy game region, along with many characters and quests. Update 3.0 followed the same pattern, adding the Sumeru region to the world of Teyvat, as well as the Dendro item. It’s impossible to know exactly what Genshin Impact 4.0 contains, but we do have some ideas of what developers can work on.
Genshin Impact 4.0 Release Date Speculations
The Genshin Impact 4.0 release date will likely be between July and August.. Thinking of the previous major updates, version 2.0 was released on July 21, 2021 and version 3.0 on August 24, 2022, so it is highly likely that version 4.0 will be released between these two months.

As one of the Seven Nations of Teyvat, Fontaine has been repeatedly mentioned by many NPCs around the world. Fontaine, which means “source” in French, is the cradle of the Hydro region. Much like Electroarchon Raiden Shogun and Dendro Archon Nahida, we can expect to see a Hydroarchon in this region at some point, though we don’t know anything about this enigmatic figure at this time.
Twitter account SusAmongusLeaks showed a short clip showing an unfinished area in Genshin Impact. The person running the account believes it to be Fontaine, but also claims it could be a version of the city from the past that only appears in a vision.
Kaspar, an NPC found in Liyue, is one of the few characters in the game to come from Fontaine. Judging by his formal attire, this leads us to believe that Fontaine’s population may be upper-class. A conversation with Kaspar reveals that he appreciates Liyue’s landscapes because they are “completely different from those of my homeland.” If the leaked images of Fontaine are real, the moving gears and running water featured in Fontaine would create a completely different landscape from Liyue.
New Genshin Impact 4.0 Characters
There was a leak from an unknown source that revealed several Fontaine characters, though very little is known about the unreleased models. This leak is most likely real, as the image was removed from Twitter and Reddit in response to a copyright notice.
The image shows ten character models standing with their arms outstretched in an A pose. In a now-deleted tweet from Genshin Impact leader Mero, they state that not all of the characters in the image are Fontaine. In the picture, there is a pink-haired woman who has a vision of Mondstadt Anemo on her shoulder, but we don’t know what other Mondstadt character could be.
Genshin Impact Boss, SaveYourCousinsHe also confirmed that the Fontaine character leak is real. According to SaveYourCousins, the character models for this piece leaked a few months ago, including a purple-haired woman whose color scheme was updated in this leak.
