Someone has managed to create a fully modeled virtual Steam Deck in a 3D environment. If you haven’t bought a mobile gaming PC from Valve yet, it can offer a rudimentary alternative for now, as long as it really becomes a thing.
Awarded a Gold Joystick for Best Gaming Hardware, the Steam Deck has become one of the most popular devices for gamers in the past year. Given its popularity, Valve found that its portable powerhouse was selling like hot cakes, creating quite a stir in the world of portable gaming. It also works comfortably at home thanks to some of the best Steam Deck options available, making it even more versatile.
However, not everyone has received it yet, and that’s where user Agaric comes in. In a recent Reddit video, they show off a VR playground with a fully rendered Steam Deck model. In the video, they show how they take on a gaming laptop PC using what appear to be HTC Vive controllers.
Then they pass into their hands, where they try even harder to game the system. But all seems to be for naught as they struggle to maintain the bridge properly, assuming it’s not fully interactive. That’s not to say the right version won’t be the best VR headset in the future, but for now Agaric’s video is more of a goofy display of cool features.
With the best Steam Deck games of 2022 recently announced, not to mention the aforementioned price point, 2023 is looking strong for Valve’s multifaceted system. It’s not clear if anyone will come up with a VR version capable of playing games, but it will definitely be a good alternative for those who haven’t bought the real thing yet.
