Razer has shared a great concept for a gaming chair add-on that can transform your existing chair into an immersive throne. The accessory almost looks like a regular head pillow, but it actually offers surround sound capabilities and a booming tactile feel based on the company’s existing Hypersense range.
It goes without saying that Razer knows how to build the best gaming chair competitor, and its top-end Enki Pro is a testament to that. At this point, it seems the company has hit the mark when it comes to ergonomics and comfort, but projects like the Enki Pro Hypersense suggest they now want to add something entirely new to the mix.
We’re still waiting for the chunky Snakehead seat to hit the scene, but Razer already seems to be considering some simpler alternatives. He meets Project Carol, a high-tech gaming chair cushion that wirelessly upgrades his regular office furniture. The accessories concept packs features like Hypersense haptics and 7.1 surround sound into a reasonably sized cushion, while 2.4GHz wireless serves as an efficient way to completely cut the cord.
All of Razer’s sample images and its CES 2023 demo show Project Carol strapped into the Enki Pro, but it’s designed to mount “all major brands of gaming chairs.” Naturally, it’ll probably work for cheap and cheerful seats too, as long as its back actually supports your neck (looking at you dining chair users).
It’s worth remembering that Project Carol is purely conceptual at this point and may never become a reality. However, it’s easy to see why Razer is eager to share this idea, as it will help a wide range of gamers reap the benefits of haptics without having to spend money on an expensive chair or trade in their headset for the Kraken V3 Hypersense. .
We’d really like to see Project Carol become a real product, and next on our calendar is testing the Razer Enki Pro Hypersense. The haptic gaming chair doesn’t have a release date yet, but we look forward to sharing our verdict when it hits the market.
