A new Overwatch 2 event called Battle for Olympus is currently underway and some fans are unhappy with Widowmaker Medusa’s latest skin, calling it the “pay to lose”. In the current event, several heroes of the game received new skins based on Greek mythology.

However, players have made it clear, mostly via Twitter, that the Medusa skin in Widowmaker is hurting players. One tweet by Brian St. pierrea professional Overwatch 2 player who shows how loud the snakes on Widowmaker’s head are, making it hard to hear where enemies are (if you’re wearing the skin) and easier for them to identify you due to the noise they make.
According to him “New leather Jellyfish is so loud that it actively punishes you for using it. Not only do you not hear the steps of the enemy, but you cannot hide. The enemy team can hear snakes/hair in leather Jellyfish and determine your location by them.

The main reason some fans are annoyed by this is because the only way to get this skin is to buy it with real money. In the Battle for Olympus event, heroes compete against each other in deathmatch and the hero with the most kills at the end of the game gets their statue placed in the Ruins of Illios and is declared the champion.
Greek mythology and the battle for Olympus
Season 2 will have a theme worthy of gods and legends: Greek mythology! The main reward of the Season 2 Premium Battle Pass will be the brand new Mythical Queen Juncker Zeus skin. This skin will bring new settings, weapon models, voice lines and special effects. Step into the glory of the divine companions and earn the legendary Ramattra Poseidon and Farrah Hades skins as you progress through the Premium Battle Pass.

Overwatch is a Hero Shooter-style first-person shooter where teams of up to six players battle it out on maps in competitive matches to dominate the target, escort them, or destroy the opposing team. The game was released by Blizzard in 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Overwatch 2 was announced in 2019 and released in 2022.
