Asus presents a PC controller equipped with a small OLED screen

OLED is big on the gaming monitor scene, but Asus is preparing a PC controller with display technologies. The light panel has a nifty display on the front that will support custom animations and also serve as a way to use your customization arsenal.

When it comes to the best PC controllers, versatility is key. Whether the panel you choose has hot-swappable buttons or fancy microswitches, being able to tailor it to your fingers and thumbs is a huge plus. The ROG Raikiri Pro is a device that is based on this premise, but that will not prevent us from taking full advantage of its small screen.

Unveiled at CES 2023, the ROG Raikiri Pro expands on the traditional controller layout with a host of features, though the repeatedly mentioned OLED display is its centerpiece. Naturally, the little magic window on the front is a great excuse to play around with the animations, but it ultimately gives you more control over things like customizable profiles and status indicators.

Along with the display, ROG Raikiri Pro promises USB-C, 2.4GHz, and Bluetooth wired connectivity, so you can easily switch between a full-fledged gaming PC and devices like Valve’s Steam Deck. Plus, it has selectable pitch triggers to help you fine-tune your beats in the best FPS games, and a built-in ESS DAC that delivers high-quality audio to the pad’s 3.5mm jack.

Fortunately, you don’t need to download the new ROG Raikiri Pro customization software because Armory Crate does all the heavy lifting in terms of screen remapping, layout, and customization. If you already own a collection of Asus peripherals, or even one of the company’s best gaming laptops, you’ll already be familiar with the app, even though the driver tab is brand new.

We’re still waiting for a release date for the ROG Raikiri Pro, but Asus says it should arrive sometime in Q1 2023. Hopefully that means it’s really around the corner and we can’t wait for someone to release. Doom. in this small OLED window.
