Dark Souls 3 Archthrones Prequel Mod Looks Like DLC

A great mod for Dark Souls 3 called Archthrones has released a new video that includes 15 minutes of gameplay. FromSoftware’s 2016 capital RPG mod draws heavily from other games in From’s catalogue, including Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. The effect is remarkable: although it is a fan-made mod, to everyone it looks like an official plugin.

Archthrones focuses on Nexus of Embers, the reworked fire temple from Dark Souls 3. It’s much more mossy and overgrown here, with sunlight dancing from above. The titular architrons are located around a central hub, each providing a portal to a different region of the world.

We see several of these areas in the video. Rainswept Outpost is thematically similar to Dark Souls 3’s High Wall of Lothric at the outset, while Blue Ruins is a flooded and rainy gothic church complex dominated by a tall tower adorned with thorns and lanterns. The war-torn village looks more like Sekiro visually, with red flowers dotting the ground and corpses all strewn about.

The video also features various boss encounters: there’s the Disgraced Knight, whose second phase adds several powerful magical attacks to his arsenal, the familiar Demon Vanguard, and Angelic Wall Guardian, who appears to faint multiple times during battle. .

It is not yet known when Archthrones will be released, but the modding team said that it will. completely free when it’s ready. Check out the best Souls games for more challenges in the meantime.
