Another award, another Elden Ring Game of the Year, and this time from Steam users. The winners of Valve’s annual gaming awards have been announced, and it’s no surprise that Elden Ring also takes home top honors. However, the Steam Awards include several unique categories that often honor games of yesteryear.
Despite a rocky launch on Steam earlier this year, Steam users gave Hitman 3 its VR Game of the Year award. Cyberpunk 2077 was voted the best Labor of Love game of 2022 after many returned to the troubled RPG when Netflix’s animated series Cyberpunk Edgerunners debuted.
Steam Deck launched in 2022, so this year’s awards included a new category: Best Mobile Game. This award went to director Hideo Kojima’s Cut of Death Stranding, which adds new quests, gear, and challenges to a unique post-apocalyptic installment game.
