blizzards announced its “AAA survival game” for PC and consoles earlier this year, describing the project as “a world unlike any other Blizzard has created.” A year-end report released Thursday revealed who joined the company to lead its new position: Former CEO Big difference from ubisoft, Dan Haywill be in charge of the new survival game.
Haye “leads the team that infuses this genre with Blizzard magic, creating our first new intellectual property since Overwatch,” according to an official note on the manufacturer’s blog. “This year our team has doubled, and in the new year we plan to increase it even more!”
“Blizzard is embarking on our next mission. We are about to embark on a journey through a brand new universe, home to a brand new survival game for PC and consoles. A place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be experienced. A vast realm of possibilities waiting to be explored.”
Blizzard’s as-yet-untitled survival game is in development, and the team behind it has reportedly doubled in size over the past year. The company is currently recruiting and looking for positions of artists, designers and engineers in the project.
In a blog post looking back over the past year, Blizzard CEO Mike Ybarra noted, “The team has doubled this year, and we plan to grow even more in the new year!”
