The Intel Core i9 13900K offers great performance right out of the box, but you can squeeze even more power out of the CPU with overclocking. Now, as is the tradition with each of the blue team’s flagships, enthusiasts continue to push the chip to the limit. In doing so, they managed to break the world record.
In addition to being the best gaming processor money can buy, the Intel Core i9 13900K is now a certified record-breaking processor. While the chip’s clock speed is 5.80 GHz, the overclocking team at Asus was able to go much further.
Extreme overclockers John Sunstrom and Peter Plesier were previously able to hit 8.80 GHz using a Core i9 13900K mixed with liquid nitrogen. However, since then they have been able to achieve a world record speed of 9.008 GHz using the energy of liquid helium, which is around -269 °C.
You can check out the interview with the couple in the video above, where they talk about overclocking and give some tips on how to get the best overclocking for your own CPU. If you’re brave enough to overclock your CPU, be it a Core i9 13900K or otherwise, don’t expect to hit the same clocks as Sanström and Plaisier.
