Yes, apparently the Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU is coming for gaming laptops

The Nvidia RTX 4090 is a monstrous graphics card, but that doesn’t seem to stop brands from packing it into a gaming laptop. New retailer leaks suggest that HP’s upcoming Omen lineup will use all-card RTX 4000 GPUs, with high-end. Lovelace cards that would have been invited to the portable party.

If you’ve ever read our Nvidia RTX 4090 review, then you know that the best graphics card contender is the goliath. Sure, the GPU’s overcooling and thick casing contribute to its bulky stature, but fine-tuning is needed given its voracious power demands.

Either way, the Nvidia RTX 4090 mobile GPUs apparently make the difference, as the new leak explicitly mentions the SKU. I observe momomo_usthe first screenshot on the retail listing mentions the flagship along with three other Lovelace options, but strangely doesn’t mention the RTX 4050 mentioned in previous rumours.

According to the listing, the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 will have 8GB of VRAM, while the RTX 4080 will drop memory to 12GB compared to its desktop counterpart. The same rule applies to the RTX 4090 mobile GPU, as it appears to be equipped with 16GB, but nothing is said about other specs such as CUDA core count and TDP.

Before you get too excited, it’s always worth taking pre-release graphics card rumors with a grain of salt, especially since Nvidia likes to change your mind. Even if the leak is confirmed, the RTX 4090 in HP’s next best gaming laptop won’t be able to match a real desktop card. In fact, the green team is likely to use the AD104 RTX 4080 GPU to create the new top mobile SKU, and the specs could be further limited to extend battery life and avoid volcanic temperatures.
