In the past, we’ve looked at a great SteelSeries headset, a reliable and comfortable gaming mouse, or a useful mouse pad. This time we will consider another gaming device from this manufacturer, namely the keyboard. This is an “upper middle” class that takes many elements from the highest class (Apex Pro), with more or less the only significant difference being the key switches (whose mechanical properties cannot be set, as is the case with the most expensive Omnipoint class) . However, they are very high quality, and you can choose from three of their options – we tested the “red” switches, linear and quiet.

Quality durable construction
Almost immediately at the first touch, the keyboard will make a strong impression with its weight (950 g) and material. The top chassis is made of aluminum, which is said to be the same type used in aircraft manufacturing and promises a material for a lifetime – in other words, this keyboard simply won’t pack on an extra pound thanks to this material. and the weight rests well on the table, which of course is helped by the rubberized bottom contacts. In terms of materials, this is a truly high-end device.
Also impressive is the easy-to-attach magnetic wrist pad covered with leatherette, which gives the impression of a certain depth to the touch and thus provides a really nice support for your wrist. In the end, the individual key switches themselves can boast of endurance, for which the manufacturer guarantees 50 million clicks (their other values: aactivation force 45 cNbutactivation path 2mm ACelectric shock path 4 mm). A curiosity is a relatively massive cable that supports a pair of USB connectors, which can be easily “hidden” in one of the three “niches” at the bottom of the keyboard.
Additional features for players
One of the dominant elements of the keyboard is the OLED display, with a pair of media buttons (a clickable jog wheel and a second confirmation button). This element of the keyboard is almost identical to the older Pro model. It allows you to display, for example, Discord message notifications, specific information from individual games (such as money or KD in Counter Strike), or the name of the currently playing song. You can also use the multimedia keys to change volume settings or switch between full keyboard settings profiles using this display.
As with other SteelSeries gaming peripherals, RGB backlighting certainly plays a significant role here, but perhaps no other type of device is as detailed and impressive: it can be configured as a whole or individually for each key, with presets like “spill”. “keystroke light/color waves” or the more traditional color/light response of each key when pressed. Of course, you can tweak this in detail, including intensity/brightness, in the SteelSeries engine companion app, where you can also edit keyboard macros for more advanced and comfortable playing of your favorite games. All in all, this is a very pleasant, solid, accurate, richly equipped and comfortable keyboard, the only drawback of which for our people is the lack of Czech localization of the keys.
You can order the keyboard directly from SteelSeries, but it is also readily available in Czech stores.
