Speaking to ComicBook.com League of Legends executive producer Jeremy Lee noted that it is unlikely that the game will stop adding new characters. While the pace of Champions coming to MOBA has slowed in recent years, Lee explained that there are still plenty of ideas for new League of Legends Champions.
“The truth is that we keep finding what the game needs and we think players like it. When this is over, we will stop creating Champions. I don’t see how that could happen,” Lee said, “I think we can change the rhythm of spawning new Champions instead. We used to release multiple Champions every two weeks, and we’ve tried different types of release cadences in the past, but LoL is an ever-evolving and changing game. Champions are an important part of that. Will we get to a point where no new Champions are introduced? I can’t imagine that, but we might get to a point where the Champions’ debut is slower.”
In the past two years, Riot has grown to approximately four or five new characters Every year in League of Legends. Lee did not specify whether that amount would decrease in 2023.
