In the new ray tracing update for Forza Horizon 5, the graphics settings finally go beyond the ForzaVista game mode and into the open world of racing games and racing itself. For those with less powerful graphics cards, don’t worry as the game now also supports AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS enhancement technologies.
After downloading the Forza Horizon 5 ray tracing update, you will now be able to select two new graphics presets, Ultra and Extreme, each of which introduces ray traced reflections in the game’s Photo, Career and Freemode modes. . Make sure you have one of the best graphics cards on the market to maintain high frame rates, or at least meet the “ideal specs” of the Forza Horizon 5 system requirements.
Both quality presets will show ray-traced reflections at full resolution when using photo mode, and while this is still true when hovering freely and running for the Extreme option, Ultra shows the quality is cut in half of the resolution. Fortunately, Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR are now supported in this update, and both scaling technologies provide an easy way to increase frame rates in complex scenarios for many GPUs.
Unfortunately, there’s no sign of Nvidia DLSS Frame Generation, aka DLSS 3.0, but that may be part of a future patch or new RTX 4000-series graphics cards. At the moment, the only pixel processors capable of using this technology are RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, the latter will be released next week.
