The remake, previously codenamed “Canis Majoris” during the studio’s strategy update in early October, will be a modern reimagining Witcher 2007 – The first game in CD PROJEKT RED’s acclaimed RPG trilogy. The game will be rebuilt from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5 technology and will use the toolset that CDPR is building for the new Witcher saga.

The project is currently in the early stages of development by Fool’s Theory, a game development studio specializing in role-playing games. The team has several experienced developers who have previously worked on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings as well as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and CD PROJEKT RED provides full creative oversight.
The Witcher is where it all started for CD PROJEKT RED. It was our first game and it was a big moment for us.
