As a budget graphics card, the performance of the Intel Arc A770 and A750 is unlikely to win awards, especially if you plan on playing older PC games that don’t use the DirectX 12 API. There is a type of mod called “DXVK” that can help drastically improve the frame rate on the Alchemist GPU and may even benefit other pixel enthusiasts.
DXVK is a translation layer that can be used to run the best PC games of yesteryear using Vulkan instead of DirectX 9, 10 or 11. This is especially important for the Intel Arc A770 and A750 as neither natively support DXVK. old API, resulting in lower-than-desired performance.
YouTuber RandomGaminginHD demonstrates just how much DXVK can boost frame rates with the Intel Arc A750, with Grand Theft Auto 4-style average frame rates dropping from 57fps to 123fps. Likewise, a minimum frame rate is maintained, as seen in The Witcher 3, where the minimum of 1% is increased from 24fps to 58fps.
While this performance boost is understandably welcome, RandomGaminginHD correctly warns against using DXVK with online multiplayer games, as the DLLs can run anti-cheat software and result in an avoidable ban.
