Age of Mythology: Retold will be a remastering of the real-time strategy classic

The popular real-time strategy game Age of Mythology is getting a big update in the near future. Microsoft Game Studios has announced Age of Mythology: Retold, a “definitive edition” remaster of the classic strategy game that promises the return of Greek, Norse, and Egyptian gods to the digital battlefield.

Microsoft Game Studios released a short trailer for Age of Mythology: Retold on the 25th anniversary of the Age of Empires series. It begins in an ancient Greek temple as the camera pans to face a large statue of Zeus. Thor’s hammer can be seen in a forge somewhere in the snowy north. Finally, the view passes between sphinx statues and the slope of an ancient Egyptian pyramid before disappearing into clouds filled with marble shards and brick columns.

“Bringing the Definitive Edition treatment to Age of Mythology, the game will feature stunning graphics, updated gameplay, and more,” the official account tweeted. “Save for updates…”

Age of Mythology: Retold will be available as part of PC Game Pass at launch.

The game was originally released in 2002 and was updated to Age of Mythology: Extended Edition in 2014. This version has been well supported through a long series of updates.

Here’s what Microsoft Game Studios has announced for Age of Mythology: Retold so far, but we’re hoping for more information in the near future, such as release dates.
