A trusted insider has released some of the first game details on the game’s next major region, Fontaine in Genshin Impact. The popular RPG from HoYoVerse regularly adds new locations to the game with annual updates that feature important new regions.
The 2021 version 2.0 update added the Japanese-inspired Inazuma Archipelago, while version 3.0 of the game earlier this year introduced the rainforest and the Sumeru Desert. Version 4.0 is expected to arrive sometime in 2023 and the Fontaine region is expected to be featured in the game, with a new leak revealing some early details about the Archon Hydro nation.

Fontaine – Hydro Nation
At the moment, the only thing we officially know about Fontaine is that she is a nation ruled by Archon Hydro, Archon of Justice. The latest Genshin Impact leak from trusted leader Blank hints at what players should expect to see in the region. Blank mentions that Fontaine has “high-speed ships” that are likely related to the region’s supposedly advanced technology compared to other regions of Teyvat.
Blank also mentions some of the wildlife that players will see in Fontaine, including barnacles and barnacles, Genshin Impact features more aquatic life. No assets of Fontaine have leaked yet, as the full release of Fontaine is likely to take place almost a year from now.
While finer details are not given, Blank also mentions the addition of an underwater mechanic that came from the Fontaine region. Underwater gameplay will be a first for Genshin Impact, as the game currently only allows players to swim on the surface of many of the game’s bodies of water.
It remains to be seen if the underwater mechanic will be for specific domains/areas in Fontaine, or if a diving system will be included that players could use throughout Genshin Impact. Fontaine will feature water puzzles and will follow Genshin Impact’s trend of regional-based puzzles.
While Genshin Impact leaks have revealed new content in the future, HoYoVerse recently gave players an idea of what to expect in version 3.2 next month.
The Genshin Impact Version 3.2 Special Program revealed two new bosses coming to the game: Hypostasis Dendro as a new world boss and Fatui Scaramouche as a weekly boss. Genshin Impact version 3.2 also introduces two new characters: Archon Dendro, Nahida, and Sumeru Academy student Layla, who wields a cryo sword.
