WoW Reddit warns Blizzard MMORPG players that a new skill, mount, and raid scam could cost them millions in World of Warcraft gold, as scammers pose as high-tier guilds on Discord.
For WoW players who want to complete the most difficult Mythic raids in World of Warcraft and get mounts like the Vengeance Dragonhawk and Jailer, even if you’re in a guild that can complete those extremely difficult raids, get organized so you have enough will to all players. online at the same time can be a big hurdle.
World of Warcraft leveling services allow players to use in-game gold, which can be bought and sold for real money, basically to hire a group of high-level players to go on raids with for rare items and items. . mounted. However, a recent case highlights an elaborate scam in which ostensible boosters pose as experienced WoW guilds to swindle players out of millions of gold.
As reported on WoW Reddit, user WowExposer fell victim to this scam and issued a warning to other World of Warcraft players. They explain how they tried to complete Mythic Raids, but despite being part of a capable guild, they couldn’t find or organize enough players at once.
They contacted the promotion department, which presented itself as one of the highest level guilds on their server. The service offered to dabble with WoWEExposer in exchange for two million WoW gold worth around $180, although the exchange rate fluctuates frequently and different outlets offer gold at different prices.
WoWEExposer was then invited to join this alleged guild’s Discord server, which they claim was specifically designed to appear legit. “They’re changing what the welcome message on the Discord homepage says to match the guild they’re posing as,” Redditor says. “Once you’re logged in, you’ll see channels that have multiple in-game screenshots of the services they’re supposed to ‘provide,’ as well as ‘customer’ reviews. They then proceed to “verify” that it really is the person talking to you in-game, then verify that payment has been received through Discord and in-game chat; That’s why everything seems legal.”
After agreeing on the time needed to complete the raids and transfer the gold, the planned booster service did not contact WoWEExposer again. When they tried to contact them through Discord, they found that they were blocked and removed.
WoWEExposer describes encountering the same suspected scammer multiple times while advertising their boost service on the Tichondrius Horde server and the Sargeras Alliance server. Redditor shares footage of a private conversation between them and the alleged scammer in which they admit to scamming WoWEExposer and say that they have since traded two million gold on a third party website, further claiming that the scam helps them win against each other. $600 and $800 per day. .
WoWEExposer says it wants to help other players who have fallen victim to the same scheme. “The purpose of this post is simply to draw the attention of other players so they don’t experience the same thing as me,” they explain. “This is in no way a complaint that I was lied to – I took a risk and there were consequences and I accepted it.”
WoWEExposer recommends that players never trade or trade level ups with top level players or players not using their main account. If the player offering the favor claims to be part of a guild, WoWEExposer recommends contacting the leaders of that guild to verify that the player is a member of the guild.
Finally, says WoWEExposer, “don’t be fooled by fancy discord. Click on group members, see when those accounts joined Discord, and when they joined the specific server you’re on. If most of them have same or very similar dates, that should be a big red flag.
