The Intel Core i7 13700K is expected to arrive soon, and its price and performance lag behind the flagship Raptor Lake. However, based on recently leaked gaming benchmarks, the Blue Team chip may not have what it takes to beat its main competitor, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X.

While neither CPU is the best gaming CPU in its series, the Intel Core i7 13700K and AMD Ryzen 7 7700X are both extremely capable chips that pack a lot of power for a much lower price. That said, based on data provided by Extreme Player (via WCCFTech), it appears that the Ryzen 7000 series is slightly ahead of its Raptor Lake rivals.

The AMD Ryzen 7700X outperforms the Intel Core i7 13700K in max FPS in most games tested, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Naturally, this is best demonstrated at 1080p, as graphics card bottlenecks occur when the resolution is increased to 1440p and 4K.

What the Intel Core i7 13700K may lack in performance, it might make up for in cost, as buying an ecosystem that supports AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is much more expensive due to the lack of DDR4 RAM support. However, we’ll have to wait and see until we see more test results from other outlets, so take those results with a grain of salt for now.
