CableMod GPU adapter fixes Nvidia RTX 4090 port misplacement issue

The Nvidia RTX 4090 may be the leader when it comes to GPU performance, but the poor placement of the power port has led to negative reactions from reviewers and users. Enter CableMod, which thinks it can solve this annoying problem with its least-loved accessory: the adapter.

Adapter hostility aside, the “CableMod 12VHPWR Right Angle Adapter” looks far above the dumb keys you might be used to. It firmly connects to the PCIe Gen 5 power cable that comes with the RTX 4090, allowing it to be connected at a 90-degree angle.

This eliminates potential gap issues between Nvidia’s best graphics card and the case’s side panel, and reduces wear and tear from bending cables.

While this is great news for those with the best power supply, it’s pretty absurd to think that third-party solutions like this are nearly necessary on a $1,600 device. Not to mention the rogue army of extra cables you’ll have to deal with if you have an older power supply, as we pointed out in our RTX 4090 review.

There’s currently no word on the cost of the CableMod adapter, but you can sign up here to be notified when pre-sale starts on October 31. Even if you don’t plan on getting a flagship GeForce, this could be a great accessory for the RTX 4080 or any other RTX 4000 series graphics card.
