AMD Ryzen 7000 performance drops with Windows 11 22H2 update

For those looking to get the most out of their new system’s AMD Ryzen 7000, it’s best to avoid the latest Windows 11 update, 22H2, for now. Apparently, the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system doesn’t work well with the latest processors, which is the latest chapter in the already long saga between Team Red processors and the operating system.

According to CapFrameX (via Neowin) AMD Ryzen 7000 performance is not where it should be on a gaming PC with the Windows 11 22H2 update. A series of tweets highlighted how Team Red’s main gaming CPU, the Ryzen 9 7950X, performs worse in its stock configuration compared to half of its cores being disabled and running on a single CCD (CPU Compute Die). .

However, it also turns out that disabling AMD SMT (simultaneous multi-threading) helps alleviate much of the performance loss, which definitely shouldn’t happen. For now, it looks like Red Team and Microsoft will have to work together to fully resolve this issue.

Both AMD and Microsoft, thankfully, have a decent track record of fixing issues like this fairly quickly, as was the case when the parties resorted to the TPM requirement, hurting frame rates and smooth visuals.
