January was an interesting month, especially for PC playerreceived high-quality alterations of console blockbusters in the form god of War as well as Rise of the monster hunter. Other platforms have been fairly quiet for most of the month, though many PS5 owners have once again been raving about the beauty. Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy in enhanced versions of both games for the latest PlayStation. PC players will see this part soon too. In any case, the biggest Pokémon has undoubtedly become the biggest gaming event of the month: Arceus At first glance, it didn’t look so convincing, and Nintendo “traditionally” did not send the code to anyone for verification in advance, but in the end it looks like a very interesting evolution of the series and in many ways the right step forward.
As for the completely pointlessly fragmented game February (or February Christmas Game), much to my surprise, no one in the newsroom caught on to the PS5 review code suggestion on Dying Light 2. So far, the title is on my shoulders, although I already have Horizon Forbidden West loaded there, which I would do very well, at least until the release of Elden Ring. Colleagues seemed to be horrified by the scope of DL2, which in itself may not pose such a problem … but if you combine this feature of the game with the relatively hanging embargo (according to OK, reviews are due at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 2nd.), the task of reviewing this game suddenly doesn’t seem all that enticing. Most game journalists have other responsibilities, or they need to get some sleep. So I would like to do it again thank to all game publishers who believe in the quality of their game and provide feedback codes in advance.

From the point of view of my own existence, January was quite critical when a large number of aspects of my life changed (mostly for the worse), but I also got sick, so I spent most of the month in pain and at home. Therefore, I realized that Devolver was not too scared and offered us a new game from the Serious Sam series with the subtitle Siberian Mayhem (review here). The ruthless action was just something I needed to distract. On the other hand, the psychological thriller Martha Is Dead, which I could try out in advance (impressions here), did not help the brain much, but the experience was quite good.
But now we’re almost into February, which is sure to be deadly for AAA game fans as they release Dying Light 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Total War: Warhammer III or Elden Ring. Thank God I’m lucky that I’m only interested in the latter, so maybe I’ll have enough time to play the interesting Sifu earlier and get into the western edition of Lost Ark. And when I want to calm down, OlliOlli World looks like the perfect nerve balm. Because skateboarding and styling.

The first month of 2022 saw a sluggish start to the season, which this year is characterized by an incredibly strong February. However, some interesting games came out in January, but in the end I only got to the beta version of The Settlers (you can find our impressions in the form of text and video) and the full version of the indie game Not for Broadcast (you will expect a review soon)
By catching up with everything else, I was again making up for most of the time I could spend playing. I’ve actually started Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS5 where I’m about halfway through and I’m hoping to have the title completed in February. Also, I continued the Gears of War series. I finished the first part in November last year and I really liked it, although I probably expected a little more. On the other hand, the two and three that I completed in January were on a completely different level. Better gameplay, better drawn characters and a much more interesting story – that’s exactly what I was missing in the first place. I liked the second one a little more, but Gears of War 3 is definitely not far behind. In the near future I will definitely start a spin-off of Judgment.
The last game I finished in January was The Medium from the Polish studio Bloober Team. While I really hate walking simulators, I didn’t really mind at Medium. The gameplay is not really openable, but a great idea, technical processing and a very interesting plot save it. Unlike the Observer, The Medium has convinced me that Bloober Team is a talented studio, and I’m really looking forward to what they come up with next.
As I mentioned in the introduction, February is incredibly busy. But Dying Light 2 is at least not enough for me yet because I haven’t played the first episode and Elden Ring is in a similar situation, I haven’t tried any From Software game yet. Personally, I’m most looking forward to the release of the indie game Sifu, the campaign for Remedy’s CrossFireX shooter, and last but not least, Horizon Forbidden West.

Well, let’s face it. In terms of new video games, this has been a relatively weak start to the year. True, some pieces were found. For example, I rushed to review the remaster of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for PlayStation 5. Well, you can say that it’s just a remaster, but for me it was a reminder of a quality and adventurous story, enriched with better fps, load times and slightly prettier graphics . So what can you say, two quality games have received a lot of care and are even better on the PlayStation 5.
But I didn’t just stay with Uncharted. My Nintendo heart woke up again in January, so he spent most of the month playing on the Nintendo Switch. I started (again from the beginning) with Metroid Dread and have to admit that I’m having a great time. Excellent sci-fi atmosphere in the interesting graphics of the planet ZDR is full of puzzles and dangerous enemy robots. Yes, sometimes I get stuck somewhere and I have to call Uncle Google for help, but I don’t give up yet and I will definitely humiliate the game. The second game I started on Switch in January was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I’ve beaten the game before, but I wanted to replay Link’s last adventure. I almost forgot how much fun this game can be, but most of all it is beautiful. Of course, there are tons of other games with an almost realistic graphical side, but the styling of the latest Zelda is something that can be compared to a work of art. How I look forward to the next episode!
Unfortunately, I will probably have to wait a while for this. However, great games are coming out in February! I will definitely try Dying Light 2. Although I am not a huge fan of the first part, I still liked it and I am very curious about the sequel. But what I’m really looking forward to is Elden Ring! While I’m still relatively new to soul like games, I already have all the games from FromSoftware and can’t wait to visit the new world from these masters of my genre. Let’s hope that for us, indulging in our own suffering, there will be enough pain and inner suffering.
Unfortunately, I’m part of a group of people who didn’t like Horizon Zero Dawn (even though the game had nice graphics) and who stayed at the top of my list of “personal video game frustrations”. Therefore, all the excitement around the second part, Horizon Forbidden West, passes me by. However, that doesn’t change the fact that I want the developers to release the game, and most importantly, that the fans love it.

Compared to my colleagues from the editorial office, my beginning of the year was frankly gambling. Regular readers of Saturday’s Japanese news probably suspect that I just don’t have a place to play. all free time was reduced to the completion of work, rest and attempts to turn off the gray bark. In the evenings, I finally completed the last Invader – Volume 5, then visited Silicon Island, met the seventh Berserker, the fourth Demon Slayer and counted the third Alien Gibson.
I really thought there would be no games in January, but in the end I didn’t give it up because NIS America released a demo of the JRPG Monark. And although I was confused by the visuals of the game, presented through screenshots and trailers, I at least did not like it. Because it falls into my favorite category of games like The Caligula Effect, Blue Reflection, Demon Gaze Labyrinth of Refrain, Lost Child or the SMT series and its spin-off Persona for example. Monark reminds me a lot of the first series just mentioned. Perhaps this is also a very ascetic setting at first glance, and then its very stylized characters. This style may not suit some, but The Caligula Effect managed to get the most out of this concept in the second part, which I still cannot fully appreciate for the Monark demo. However, at the end of the demo, I was interested in some interesting elements. For example, character stats are presented in the form of the seven deadly sins, or a slightly different combat system that Persona fans will feel right at home with. So I definitely recommend trying at least a demo, it can pleasantly cheer you up.

The first month of this year was really playful for me after a long time. I started, as usual, with the PC version of the award-winning God of War. I was able to enjoy the pilgrimage of Krata and Atreia with improved graphics and a much higher frame rate. I’m glad that I finally got to the game, and since Norse mythology is very close to me, it was a trip. I’m already looking forward to the sequel – Ragnarok. After the great God of War, I took on the port of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, which still did not suit me very much. The JRPG genre is definitely not for me.
Thanks to a newly built computer, I was finally able to get started on the Czech gem – Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The story of Jindra Ze Scalice literally swallowed me up. Brutal difficulty gave me a deal at first, but as I got better gear and got more into the combat system, things suddenly changed. Suddenly the game is too simple for me, bordering on boredom. Damage. But I will definitely finish the game. I also dedicated about fifty hours to Lost Ark, which will be released on February 8th. I researched the game classes and systems on the Russian server and I already know that this will be my main game. At least as far as this spring is concerned. I’m looking forward to the Life is Strange remaster from the February games I’ve never played properly and I know I have to fix it. Unfortunately I can’t find time for Dying Light right now, but I definitely want to try it in the future. Winter wishes for gaming sessions and if February is at least as busy for me as January, I will be happy.
